Mezza Luna Restaurant - Buzzards Bay: Reviews & Ratings
My list of positives for this restaurant would be very long and I can't wait to go back. The food was incredible and very authentic. The value for the money was fantastic - huge servings; Italian wedding soup (always get it if it is being offered); warm, perfect, homemade bread; 3 glasses of wine and spumoni for $100. The atmosphere was electric and perfectly old school Italian restaurant. Go there tonight!
This is such an awesome family owned restaurant with delicious, homemade pasta at reasonable prices - great value for the money. We went for lunch and we got several thick, warm slices of fresh, soft Italian bread and butter. Your entree can come with a generous salad or Minestrone soup or the Chicken soup. I upgraded to the clam chowder and it was just perfect with chunks of potatoes, plenty of clams and good flavor. Our favorite is the home-made ravioli in cheese or spinach flavors. My husband loves the meat sauce and thinks it is one of the best ever. I had the eggplant parmesan twice, and I think THAT is the best eggplant parmesan I have ever had. Thin slices of soft eggplant that melt in your mouth with the cheese. I got it with the ravioli (upcharge) instead of the pasta. I was able to take half home with me for a delicious dinner another night. The decor and music are nostalgic with songs playing from the Frank Sinatra era. Wednesday night is Prime Rib night. We have not gone for that but we came earlier when they were still roasting the meat for several hours.
Never had other than well executed Italo-American food. Try the eggplant fries! Che buono!
I'm vegetarian and the vegetable lasagna was amazing. The view of the lake was gorgeous and the music made the ambiance truly welcoming. Our server was very friendly and we had a great conversation with her.
I had dinner here this evening. The food was fabulous. I ordered the Eggplant Fries, Baked Stuffed Shrimp w/ Spinach Ravioli topped w/ Alfredo Sauce. The bread/butter & house salad were good. The table comes set w/ grated parmesan & salt/pepper; which is convenient. I had three glasses of wine (all great). I so much appreciated the details of this restaurant. The menu’s first page opens up about the history of Mezza Luna, how it burned down years ago & had to be rebuilt from the ground up. There are displays of different artifacts. Artwork is splashed on the walls. There was an apology letter on the wall of the ladies room for it being smaller than it used to be… There’s a sense of nostalgia w/ a personalized appeal/appreciation for the customers who have dined here throughout the decades & the family that started it all. The sounds of Frank Sinatra in the backdrop & the mini flower (real) display on the table brought this experience right on home for me. I loved it here & insist on people coming here for an authentic Italian meal ????????
This restaurant came highly recommended to us. We were on our last day of vacation in the area and it was my husband's birthday so we decided to try it. It is a very busy restaurant and reservations are preferred. We were so lucky that we were able to be seated without having a reservation. The person that sat us told us that we were going to have the best meal we've ever had, and she was right. I got Chicken Piccata and I could not believe the portions! It was so delish. I could not stop eating. My husband got baked lasagna with a side of meatball. He said it was the best he's had. In fact, he enjoyed this restaurant over the North End restaurants we visited at the beginning of our vacation. My oldest daughter got chicken and broccoli, again huge portions! And my youngest got a giant hotdog off the kid's menu. The chicken and vegetable soup was so delicious as was the fried mozzarella. We were stuffed!! My oldest daughter lives in the area, so she was the lucky one that got to take home all the extra food. The atmosphere and the excellent service rounded out this amazing dining experience. I will be dreaming of this outstanding restaurant all the way from Florida.
I was the Maid of Honor for my sister-in-law’s wedding, and the groom’s family hosted their rehearsal dinner at Mezza Luna — it was absolutely outstanding! I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special event. The food was exceptional from start to finish. The appetizers were so fresh and flavorful — the stuffed mushrooms were to die for, and the calamari was perfectly cooked. The entrées were incredibly generous in portion and absolutely delicious — the chicken parm and chicken marsala were both standout dishes, and the antipasto platter was enormous and beautifully presented. I also have to mention the French onion soup — rich, cheesy, and one of the best I’ve ever had! The service was impeccable — warm, attentive, and clearly experienced in handling large groups with ease. The entire evening felt seamless and celebratory thanks to their wonderful staff. We loved it so much that we went back a few days later for dinner with our 2.5-year-old — and even the kid’s menu impressed us! He devoured his buttered noodles and chocolate milk while I couldn’t resist ordering the French onion soup and stuffed mushrooms again for myself. We will definitely be back — Mezza Luna is a true gem in Buzzards Bay and an easy five stars from our family!
